Proxmox VE – Windows Install does not detect hard drive

Issue: During Windows installation on Proxmox VE the VM hard disks are not detected.

Reason: Windows VirtIO Drivers are missing

Solution: During Windows Install load VirtIO drivers

How to:

• Download VirtIO ISO from https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Windows_VirtIO_Drivers
• On Proxmox create a second CD/DVD Drive for VM and load VirtIO ISO
• During Windows install click on Load Driver
• Navigate to vioscsi/WINVERSION/amd64 (or x86) and click OK
• Hard disk should be shown
